TSN College, Chennai. March 10, 2007: T S Narayanaswami College of Arts and Science celebrated its annual College Day today at Sir PT Thyagarayar Hall, Chennai. The day started at 10.30 AM with the sixth and seventh convocation ceremony of the college. Mr. A. Sankarakrishnan, President, Madras Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Managing Director of Kone Elevators, Chennai, delivered the convocation address.

Degrees were conferred on 139 graduates of various streams and 24 post graduates of commerce and computer science stream. Other guests at the convocation ceremony included Mr. P. Ramachander, Editor - Compass, the in-house magazine of India Cements Limited (ICL) and Mr. L. Sabarathinam, member of the college governing body. The convocation ceremony concluded at 12.00 PM.

Later that day at 2.30 PM, the chief guest of the evening, which included the prize giving ceremony for academic and sports achievements and other cultural activities, Mr. G. Balakrishnan, Secretary of ICL and the Correspondent of TSN College, inaugurated the function by lighting the traditional lamp. Other dignitaries who lit the lamp included guests Mr. E. Jude Peter, Assistant General Manager of Accounts at ICL, Mr. M. V. Senapathi, Consultant in Instrumentation, Mr. K. Sathyanarayana, Principal, TSN College and Dr. G. Vijayasree, Vice Principal, TSN College.

The evening function began with Dr. V. Ganapathy, Professor of Tamil, delivering the welcome address. Later, Mr. K. Sathyanarayana, Principal, delivered the Annual Report which included the achievements and progress made by the college during the academic year 2006-07. Mr. G. Balakrishnan along with the other guests of the evening, gave away the prizes. Dr. G. Vijayasree proposed the vote of thanks and the day concluded with cultural activities by students that included group dances and a drama (skit).

In other developments, some of the alumni of the 1998-2001 commerce stream, who attended the college day, pledged donations towards a scholarship programme and books for the library to be fulfilled during the academic year 2007-08.
